Bank account

Well, that should be easy. Actually, it is not.

- Do you have any form of identification?
- Yes, I have my passport?
- Do you have any proof of residence?
- I do have this private tenancy contract.
- I am sorry, but we cannot take in consideration that. I am afraid we are not able to open you an account.

I don’t know why, but for most banks it seems that it is more important to have an utility bill on your name than a thing like a job contract.

Close to lose the flight

The flight was at 6am. I woke up at 4, took a shower, get dressed, grabbed my luggages and around 4:50 I was in the airport. 10 minutes later the check-in was done and my big luggage was on his way to the plane. And that was the easy part of my journey.

A queue. I think two, maybe three hundred people. All of them waiting for passport control and only 2 (TWO) officials dealing with this. Give 30 seconds for each person and my chances to get the flight diminish every minute. I tried to find an official and tell my problem. Guess what? There was nobody there. I asked the lady from information to help me. She announced me on the public system, but even with my name loudly spoken on the loudspeakers, the officials at the passport control didn’t allow me to pass. I had to take the all queue and it last for 2 hours. Exactly at 7 am I was showing my passport to one guy in light blue.

Then, another, smaller queue: security check. Waiting there everybody to undress and so on, I heard my name again. This time I was allowed to skip get in front for security check. Of course, they had to take everything out of my handbag, but they let me pass. I was driven to the plane with a nice warm van and not with those big, cold, ugly buses.

In the end, the plane had a 2 hours delay.

Flight to UK

Good news is I have a job. Bad news is my home is 3000 km away. That means I have to relocate and to do it quick.

Since I will start working 9th of January, I think it is a good idea to get a flight on 7th. Some companies were selling tickets with aproximately GBP 550, while others around 200. What can I say? Hard choice. :d. The only downside is that the flight departs at 6 a.m., but it worths the 350 pounds difference.
